ABSTRACT

Abstract Handball is one of the most practiced team sports worldwide that consists of different modalities, with the aim of reaching as many users as possible. One of the modalities with increasing interest in the last years is Beach Handball, as it takes the advantage of the absence of competitive calendar in the standardized modality so that users continue practicing. A comparative analysis was performed between standard handball (indoor) and beach handball athletes in order to determine the demands of both modalities and determine if they are similar. The competition was evaluated by analyzing external load variables: number of steps, jumps, impacts and Player load. The selected sample was composed of U-16 players from both modalities. Each player was equipped with WIMUTM inertial device. The results showed that the standard modality requires greater physical demands than the beach modality. For this reason, the physical demands of the different modalities require different training processes to obtain the best possible results in the competition.

ABSTRACT

Aim: The present study examined the validity of the Coaches' Training Profile Questionnaire (QPFT) in Brazilian coaches. Method: The questionnaire was back-translated and content validation was performed by an expert panel. Construct validation was based on the application of the questionnaire to 212 coaches from the state of Paraná, considering the Cronbach's alpha to examine internal consistency, Pearson's correlation and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for test-retest reliability, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Results: The questionnaire showed high internal consistency, with Cronbach's alpha coefficient higher than .80. Correlations of the dimensions and ICC of the items indicated high reliability for the three dimensions of the questionnaire. The results of exploratory factor analysis explained a variance of 69.75%, with the AE factor explaining the largest portion of variance (27.01%) and the AT factor explaining the lowest portion of variance (21.14%). The absolute, parsimonious and incremental fit indices [X2 and p-value; X2/df; CFI, PCFI, GFI, PGFI, TLI, RMSEA (with 90% CI), and MECVI] were high. Conclusion: The Brazilian version of the QPFT presents a reliable and valid factor structure to identify coaches' knowledge sources in Brazil.(AU)

ABSTRACT

Problem: The selection and organization of tasks may condition the training load. Objective: To analyze the relationship between the Pedagogical (game situation and opposition level), Organizational, and External Load Variables. Method: A total of 38 trainings, composed of 340 tasks of a cadet category during the 2015/2016 season, were analyzed, and a double data filtering to eliminate warm-up and free-throw tasks was performed. Descriptive results of all variables were obtained. Pearson's and Spearman's correlation coefficients were used to identify the relationships between the variables. Results: A significant relationship between the variables that define the training organization and the external load variables was established. The tasks in which few players are grouped, with active opposition, using reduced spaces, with high participation and high levels of motor practice time increase the training load.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between the educational level with the perceived emotional well-being and the mental health of the Spanish population. In a total of 29,478 adults, participating in the Spanish National Health Survey 2006, we found that low education level is related with poor mental health (OR 1.65 in men and OR 2.36 in women), poor or very poor self-perceived health (OR 2.10 OR 2.53 for men and women), less social support (OR 1.31 OR 1.66 for men and women) and inactivity (OR 2.09 OR 1.80 for men and women). In the Spanish population the educational level is an associated factor related with different health dimensions and to the subjective well-being and mental health perceptions.
